Lent Starts Tomorrow
Lent Starts Tomorrow!
Join us for Ash Wednesday Masses tomorrow at 8 am, Noon and 6:30 pm! Everyone can receive ashes. Tomorrow is also a day of fasting and abstinence. See the below for the regulations regarding fasting and abstinence.
Stations of the Cross
All are welcome to the Stations of the Cross at St. Pius X EVERY Friday night at 7 pm. Check out the video below to learn more about the Stations of the Cross and why we should pray them.
Join us for a Lenten CRS Rice Bowl Family Meal Challenge! - With Corrected Link
St. Pius X Faith Formation is sponsoring a Parish wide Rice Bowl Challenge this year. Pick up a rice bowl from the table in the Commons starting on Ash Wednesday, cook one of the featured weekly recipes (or another from the CRS Website), snap a selfie with your
eating the meal and send to Shawn Gutowski (see Eat, Enter, and Win below for detailed instructions) for a chance to win a $50 Chick-fil-a Gift Card for families or a $25 gift card for singles or couples.
One entry per week will be included in the drawing but feel free to eat more meals from the CRS website. Put the money you save in the Rice Bowl and return to the Parish during Holy Week. If you are a single person or a couple, perhaps you want to invite a neighbor to join you, grandkids, or a niece or nephew.
We have included a video at the end of this email that talks about the importance of family meals and give you some ideas on how to make it practical for your family. There is also a video from Catholic Relief services to give you some family encouragement.
Rice Bowls help support need around the world and right here in our Archdiocese. 25% of Rice Bowl Proceeds are used in the local area. Grants from CRS helped to fund the Kids Pack St. Pius sponsored last year for the WBL Area Emergency Food Shelf. You can learn more at www.crsricebowl.org or download the app.
Eat, Enter and Win:
Eat one family meal together each week, take a selfie of the whole family at the dinner table with food on the table and send the photo to Shawn at
AMILY MEAL and your first and last name in the Subject.
You may submit one photo per week (The week of March 10, March 17, March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14).
No cell phones, technology or tvs on during dinner! (You can use your phone to take the selfie, but then put it away)
All members of your household must be present for the meal (pets do not need to be present to win).
You can sign up to receive a weekly email from Faith Formation with featured recipe and additional information to keep the motivation going at
(Faith Formation Families will automatically be included in the weekly email)
The link in the previous email and the bulletin was incorrect. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Here are some tips to help your family have a great meal experience and grow closer to each other during this Lent.
Commit to eating meals together as often as possible.
Turn off the TV, computers, handheld games and phones (you might consider putting a basket in the kitchen for everyone to drop their electronic devices in as they get to the table)
Use prayer to make the transition from busyness to mealtime. You can use the meal prayer
"Bless us, O Lord, and these, Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen."
(Preceded and followed by the Sign of the Cross.) or perhaps one of your kids would like to lead a prayer.
Hold one conversation at a time. Everyone gets a chance to speak. You can disagree, but you can't be unkind about it.
